The Fiat CR.42 Falco "Falcon" was a single-seat sesquiplane fighter developed and produced by Italian aircraft manufacturer Fiat Aviazione. The CR.42 Falco which served as the primary fighter aircraft of Italy's Regia Aeronautica during the outbreak of World War II. Although outdated by monoplane fighters, it still acquitted itself well in North Africa until the advent of more advanced Allied fighters. Many CR-42 pilots were killed while flying this obsolete biplane fighter against modern Allied aircraft types.
